It’s Hard To Have Fun When You’re Burning In The Scorching Heat!

Here Are A Few Reasons Why You Need A Patio Umbrella.

Trying to eat and pour sweat all at once.

You may have a few friends or family members that like to plan cookouts for the whole neighborhood, however; you notice that their patio is missing one key component, a patio umbrella. It can be rather difficult to enjoy that delicious meal prepared just for you when you are always sweating out bullets! Don’t let this ruin anymore future cookouts.

Just trying to enjoy a nice conversation out on the patio.

During the hot days of the Summer Solstice, people tend to gather outside and participate in extracurricular activities, but what if you just want to enjoy the outdoors and have a nice chat with a spouse or friend? Consider this; you are the type of person that can easily sweat from the first beam of sunlight. Your spouse or friend may be toofocused on how drenched your shirt is becoming instead of listening to your words.

Reading a book out on the back patio would be nice, but your skin is too sensitive to UV-rays.

There is nothing like sitting down outside and enjoying a suspenseful and excellent Mystery/Thriller novel. The weather is perfect, and everything seems to be prepared for your enjoyment, except, there is one problem; the sun is positioned directly above your head, there are trees nearby to provide you with shade. The only logical resolution would be to consider an offset patio umbrella. Don’t risk your health if you can help it! (Which you can in this case.) And if it’s night, the umbrellas are perfect accompanied with some patio lighting.

The outside patio can make you feel as if you are walking on molten rocks.

Have you ever walked outside onto your patio barefooted only to be surprised by an immense burning sensation? I most certainly have. Throughout the day your patio absorbs a lot of heat, especially if it’s concrete with a darker color than most patios. A patio umbrella will shade your patio ground by supplying it with the shade it needs. Overall, your patio will become much cooler throughout the day than it would without the shade.

It’s not only about protection from the sun. It’s about style as well.

You may notice a few of your neighbors back patios plastered with patio umbrellas. You realize how much their umbrellas complement their patio and house. Why not join in on the trend? The protection from UV-rays is foremost more important than style, but if you plan on having a patio umbrella anyway, then it should be up to YOU to choose what style you’re looking for.

Tips to Completely Eradicate Pests From Your Home

A pest infested home is a stressful place to live in. The creatures are not only a nuisance but also pose a big health risk to you and your family members, including pets. Finding a reliable and long lasting solution to the problem is extremely important. You can get reputable exterminators in Midrand to do the job for you or you can do a DIY. If you choose the latter, have come up with a few valuable tips to help you gain control of your home.

First, you must start by asking yourself what brings the pests into your home. Most of these creatures will be attracted into the home by certain factors. The most common ones being dirt, darkness, and dampness. There has to be a favourable environment where they can thrive, for them to invade your home. Therefore, your first tip to eliminating pests would be more of a prevention measure. Don’t wait for them to come for you to start looking for solutions.

Create an environment in your home that would be hard for pests to live in. Start by cleaning up the surrounding thoroughly. Both the inside and outside of your home. There should be constant supply of fresh air and light into the rooms. Especially the basement and garage. Majority of pests only need food, and a place to hide and reproduce. Once they get these two, your home will be a pest kingdom within a few weeks of their arrival. Mark you, a good number of them reproduce at a very high rate. Therefore, waiting to see signs for you to react may be too late.

Cleaning your home is a hassle-free way of keeping rodents, cockroaches, and other pests at bay. In fact, if you keep it up, you may never experience pest issues in your life.

Natural repellents

After cleaning up, you could have a look at some natural repellents that will ensure pests stay away from your compound completely. Number one would be the peppermint smell for mice. The smell disgusts rodents so much that they wouldn’t come anywhere close if you apply peppermint oil or plant peppermint plants near the house.

To deal with flies, look for basil and plant it in pots which should be placed at doorways and window seals. For spiders, go and get citrus while vinegar acts as a good antidote for ants’ infestation. When it comes to wasps, it is as simple as buying a fake nest. Apparently, wasps are very territorial and wouldn’t build a nest within 20 yards of another one.

These repellents are not only cost-effective but also time saving. Once they have been set up, your home will be pest-proof for a very long time. This helps you to enjoy some peace of mind, which, then leads to increased productivity.

Other useful ways you could look at include setting traps for the pests, and making use of beneficial animals which feed on the pests. For the mice, you could invest in a cat or attract owls into the neighbourhood. It is believed that one family of owl can feed on more than 3,000 mice in a nesting season. Talk of your stress being another creature’s feast!

Design inspiration: photos in focus

Design inspiration: photos in focus

There is charm and a strange unworldly power in them. The photos are the pieces of our lives. They save the memories of our most flawlessly happy times. Remember the black and white one of the wedding of your grandparents that was nearly torn, but saved in an old frame that was falling apart. Remember how this photo stayed on the fireplace of your grandparents’ house and how your granny passionately told you the story of their love, their sorrows and their joys, million times, whenever you visited that house. Remember the photo of you as a baby, when you first went home, remember the easy and kind smile of your mom and the undisguised happiness in your father’s eyes. Remember the first photo of you and your one and only beloved on that beach when you were too happy to think how you look like and today it’s a pleasure to see this moment of pure bliss.

The photos are emotions on paper and bring you enthralling sensations, so have them at your house.

Your home is a reflection of your dreams, you future and your past and having your most incredible moments hanged on the walls of your house will make it more personal, more you, more delightful.

Design inspiration2In frames

That is maybe the easiest part. Have beautiful frames with even more beautiful photos in them and arrange them all over the house: in the bedrooms, in the living rooms in the hallway. Every time you walk and look around you will enjoy a different moment of your life and these little simple things will make you feel uniquely fortunate to have what you have now.

Or without frames

This is a really popular designing solution now. Hang them around without even putting them into frames. You need only photos in a bigger size and some desire to arrange them beautifully around your home.

On your desk

This sounds like cliché, but where you work, you need some inspiration and motivation most of the time, because no matter how much you adore your job, there always comes a moment, when you simply want to give up and go on an island with no one, just so you can be at ease and relax once and for all in your life. But if you have a photo from your last trip to Abu Dhabi, every time you look at it, you will think of the amazing holiday you had and the even more delightful ones that are about to come. Life is nice, you just needed a reminder.

In albums

You have rented the property you live in and no matter how much you want to make it more homey and cozy with some photos, you are thus risking your security deposit and you simply don’t want to say good-bye to this money yet. However, this is not a problem at all, because you can still arrange all your photos in an album and then put it on the coffee table in the living room, where everyone who comes by will be able to relish it.

End of tenancy cleaning: the houseplants

You are one of those people who adore plants and, yes, you have maybe too many of them in your home. But you have no problems taking care of them and watering them at least twice in a week, if they are going to make your home livelier. And in fact the plants are one of the easiest ways of decoration. You need only a beautiful flowerpot that fits the interior design of your whole place and a lovely indoor plant. But now your rent agreement is coming to an end, you need to perform the whole end of tenancy cleaning thing (or better to hire one of the London’s professional cleaners) and your so favorite flowers and plants are creating a kind of situation you have to cope with. Don’t worry; there is still a chance to move them in your new home, where they can make it nice and fresh. Just follow the steps:plants-576104_960_720

Clean them

All the outdoor plants are being cleaned by the rain and the wind, but cleaning those that are at your home is your work. So take a sponge, a simple cloth or an old cotton t-shirt or blouse and take all the dust, grease and oil off the plants. Thus they will grow faster and better, they will photosynthesize easier and will be free of pests. And you only need water; the leaf-cleaning detergent in most of the cases won’t be any more beneficial. If you are in a great hurry but, however, want to take care of the plants, you can even clean them with wet wipes.

Mist them

You should not do it so frequently, but misting them by spraying water from time to time will make them fresher and will help them grow. As we know the air outside is far moister than this at home and this could be sometimes calamitous for the indoor plants.

Prepare them

Before transporting them you better make them more compact by cutting away all the damaged parts and taking off the dried up leaves. These are things that better stay at the old place

Move them

Well, here the situation is a bit more complicated. If you are moving not so far away in the same town, for example, you can simply put the plants in boxes with no covers and transport them with all other boxes and pieces of furniture. A nice idea is to pack the flowerpots with paper or newspaper, so as to be sure that they won’t break while transporting. If you are moving in the winter, however, you have to be more careful. Many of the plants lived originally in tropics or other places with warmer climate and now if you take them outside and the temperature is 10°C, they will most probably get sick and die. So you better move them directly from the house into the car. And if you are moving across the country, you better think one more time if taking the plants with you is a good idea.

Home maintenance: organize your bathroom once and for all

Home maintenance: organize your bathroom once and for all

Are you one of those people that keeps everything in the bathroom: shampoos, shower gels and other products, toothbrushes and -paste and towels and make-up stuff, and some electric appliances like curling-irons and hair-drier, and all the hair products, of course, some candles and beautiful objects that completed the design once but now could hardly be seen. Hell, it’s time to organize this place called bathroom once and for all. More →
